Modern Ceramics Company is
a private Australian company incorporated
in 1999 to undertake research into new ceramic
materials and their applications particularly
in relation to anti-ballistic armor.
We quickly determined that, while aluminum
oxide was readily available, there was an
unfulfilled worldwide demand for low-cost
armor-grade silicon carbide and boron carbide.
Accordingly, we commenced manufacturing those
materials while continuing our research. |
| Since
then the company has pioneered several new
technologies: |
A new technique for the low
cost production of silicon carbide plate for
anti-ballistic armor.
In 2001 we commenced production of silicon
carbide armor plate at our Sydney plant using
the newly developed processes.
Our plate is now being used by the armed forces
of six countries (and several police forces
in Australia, America, Asia and Europe and
has been tested in combat). |

| AusShield |
| A
world first - a ceramic armor
that combines the hardness of
silicon carbide/boron carbide
with the toughness (multi-hit
capability) and structural qualities
of steel. |
|
 |
| MEGATILE |
| Another
world first - a ceramic tile for
building and construction that
is extremely tough (able to withstand
hammer blows). |

HIGH-DENSITY GRAPHITE |
| Mc2
has collaborated with our sister
company Australia Aligned Graphite,
to develop a technology for the
production of a new form of graphite
with virtually zero forosity that
can be manufactured at a fraction
of the cost of conventional graphite
